Cookie Policy
Effective August 7, 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar storage this site uses. The short version: nothing that tracks you runs until you say yes, you can change your mind at any time from Cookie Settings in the footer, and the one thing that happens either way is a record of a form you deliberately sent us.
How consent works here
When you first visit, a banner asks whether to enable analytics cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser under a key named effiwise-cookie-consent. Until you click Accept, no analytics scripts load and no analytics cookies are set. If you Decline, we simply remember that and never load them. Storing that one preference is essential to honoring your choice, so it is the only thing set without asking first.
The categories we use
Essential
A single piece of local storage remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. It carries no personal information and exists only so we do not have to ask you on every page.
Analytics (only after you accept)
If you accept, we load two analytics tools to understand how the site is used and where it can be better:
- Google Analytics 4 reports aggregate usage, such as which pages get read and how visitors move through the site. It is loaded with storage consent granted only after your click.
- PostHog records product analytics, including pageviews and a few specific actions like clicking an audit call-to-action, so we can see whether the content actually helps people take the next step.
We use this data in aggregate to improve the site. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
One thing that is not a cookie
If you submit a form — the contact form, or a registration for our weekly open hour — we keep a record of that submission, and for registrations that record lives in PostHog alongside the analytics. It happens whether or not you accepted the banner, because it is a record of something you chose to send us rather than something we observed about your browsing. It sets no cookie, reads no cookie, uses no advertising or cross-site identifier, and does not log your location or IP address. Declining the banner still stops all of the tracking described above. ThePrivacy Policy covers what is in that record and how to have it deleted.
Changing or withdrawing consent
Open Cookie Settings in the footer at any time to bring the banner back and change your choice. Declining after you previously accepted stops new analytics collection. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which resets everything, including the stored preference, so the banner will ask again on your next visit.
Third-party details
Google Analytics is provided by Google and PostHog by PostHog, each under their own privacy terms. What matters here is that neither one loads in your browser, or sets a single cookie, without your consent. For how the rest of the site handles personal information, including the form-submission records noted above, see the Privacy Policy.
